Our clients should receive good information about how we determine our fees

Halvorsen & Co is subject to the Norwegian Bar Association's Code of Conduct for Lawyers, as well as the Norwegian Competition Authority's Regulations on price information for services in consumer matters. As a result of this, the client must, at the start of the assignment, receive information about which lawyer's prices (hourly rate) will be used as a basis, how the fee will be calculated, and invoicing routines in general. The starting point is that fees are calculated on the basis of the time spent on the case.

In addition, discretion will be exercised with regard to the nature and complexity of the work, the lawyer's experience background and specialist expertise, the result achieved, the values involved, etc. In simple and straightforward cases, we will be able to provide a fixed price in advance. The price includes all normal office services, including secretarial time, normal copying, postage, etc. Special disbursements in connection with the case will be invoiced in addition.

Timesheets are kept that form the basis for each invoice, and we settle accounts every month. In cases that extend over a longer period of time, invoices are issued every other month. In personal injury cases, invoicing is agreed separately. At the start of an assignment, an assignment confirmation will be prepared with our general terms and conditions.

An assignment is not deemed to have been accepted by us until we have issued a signed assignment confirmation and any agreed advance fee has been paid. In cases where a lawyer is appointed by the court, the assignment is deemed to have been accepted when the court's appointment is finalised.
