Why is a future power of attorney important?

With a power of attorney, you can decide for yourself who will look after your interests, and you can customise the power of attorney according to your own wishes and needs. This provides peace of mind for you and your loved ones, prevents conflicts and ensures that your values and wishes are safeguarded.

If you have not established a future power of attorney, you risk the public authorities (the State Administrator) appointing a guardian for you if you lose the ability to take care of yourself. You will then largely lose control over who will represent you and how your affairs will be handled.

What can a future power of attorney contain?
